Pope Benedict visits Britain from 16-19th September: his presence will lift our hearts and bring a renewal of spirit among us all. He comes as a minister of God’s joy.
Though he comes at the invitation of the Queen and Government (a State Visit) and the authorities will contribute £8 million towards the total cost, this still leaves the Catholic Church in England, Scotland and Wales to raise about £7 million. On Pentecost Sunday, 23rd May we asked for a special collection in every Catholic parish. We hoped that this raised at least £1 million, based on £1 or more for every Catholic at Mass on Sunday.
St Mary Magdalen Ipswich raised £246.75 towards this cost. Very many thanks.
Please keep the Holy Father in your prayers as he prepares to visit us.
